Larry R. Whidden

LARRY R. WHIDDEN, 84, of Bellville, Texas, passed away February 11, 2020, at his home.

He was born January 5, 1936, in Arcadia, Florida, the son of William Wallace and Pearl (Fought) Whidden. Larry grew up in the Arcadia area, attending Bunker Hill School. He was united in marriage to Thelma Grantham on July 13, 1959, in Arcadia, Florida. He and Thelma moved to Bellville in December of 1980. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Pattison. Larry was self-employed as a carpenter building and remolding homes in the area.

In his spare time, Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a devoted husband, father grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife of over 60 years: Thelma Whidden of Bellville; daughters; Christina Hatcher and her husband, Nathan, of Katy, Pearl Arguelles and her husband, Richard, of Katy and Jackie Pfeffer and her husband, David, of Bellville; sons: Lucas Whidden and his wife, Debra, of Bellville, Mark Whidden and his wife, Cynthia, of Brenham, Clifford Jones of Bellville and Jimmy Jones of Arkansas; twenty two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; sisters: Louretha Logue of Lakeland, Florida, Glennah Whidden of Bradenton, Florida and Louella Hollingsworth and her husband, Bill, of Arcadia, Florida; brother: Mitchell Whidden and his wife, Doris, of Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other dear family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. and Pearl Whidden, brothers, David Whidden and Russell Whidden.

Pallbearers are Phillip Jackson, Corey Jackson, Lucas Whidden, Wyatt Whidden, Joseph Van Wagenen and Brent Whidden.

Honorary Pallbearers are Derrick Jones, Andrew Pfeffer and Kasey Whidden.
