Laurence "Larry" Austin

LAURENCE MOATS “Larry” AUSTIN, 71, of Sealy, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019, in Bellville, Texas.

He was born July 7, 1948, in Bloomington, Illinois, the son of Robert Longfield Austin and Catherine Ruth (Morgan) Austin. Larry grew up and attended schools in the Bloomington area, graduating from Normal Community High School. He was self-employed as a Union 54 Sheet Metal Journeyman.

Larry was united in marriage to Carlene Lamprecht, on February 24, 1973, in Peoria, Illinois. He and Carlene made their home in Sealy, where they are members of The Shepherd’s Way Church. Larry was very active with “In the Word” Prison Ministries with Larry Cooke for 15+ years and will be truly missed by all in the ministry, especially the inmates. He enjoyed bringing home stray animals, but his love was raising children and preaching the word.

Larry is survived by his wife of over 46 years: Carlene Austin of Sealy; daughters: Christine Hooker of Jenison, Michigan, Sondra Merrell and her husband, Charles, of Von Ormy, Texas, Rachel Hindahl of Katy, Texas, Chassidy Cassidy of Bloomington, Illinois, Lindsey Alvarez and her husband, Zeke, of Sealy, Texas, Jessica Austin of Sealy, Texas, and Tiara Austin of Sealy, Texas; sons: Jeff Martin and wife, Susan, of Bloomington, Illinois, Michael Austin of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Wayne Austin of Sealy, Texas and Dakota Austin and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Sealy, Texas; grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Marissa, Ashley, Colton, Riley, Brody, Sophia, Lyndon, Aiden, Elizar, Isaac, Elijah, Sheena and Shelby; great grandchildren: Everett, Savannah, Easton, Weston, Natalie Emmett, Eli, Korie and Colton; sisters: Laura Hoffman of Arizona, Val Shepherd and her husband, Russell, of West Virginia and Elizabeth Austin of Montana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Austin, brother, Julian Austin, sister, Nina, daughter, Leigh Diane, and granddaughter, Leanna Rose.
