LAWRENCE EDWARDS “Larry” WELSH, 86, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021. He was born September 1, 1935, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Francis Earl and Frieda Irene (Haas) Welsh. Larry grew up and attended schools in the Kalamazoo and Oklahoma areas, graduating from Guymon High School. He was united in marriage to Betty Dorene Baker, on October 16, 1956, in Laverne, Oklahoma. Larry and Betty made their home in Bellville, where he was a member of The Shepherd’s Way Church in Sealy, and Bellville Ministerial Alliance. Larry also enjoyed singing in the Gospel Quartet, reading, studying Prophecy, and praying for people. He is survived by his wife: Betty Welsh of Bellville; daughters: Elizabeth Diann Poffenberger and her husband, Danny, Ilena Ruth Szymanski and her husband, Cowboy, and Connie Jo Cantu and her husband, Richard, all of Bellville; son: Michael Robert Welsh of Friendswood; grandchildren: Jerrod Poffenberger and his wife, Misti, Marcus Poffenberger and his wife, Carrie, Shalena P. McPartland and her husband, Mark, Travis Stone, Mwana Stone, Jacob Welsh, Katie Krupala, and Amanda Thompson and her husband, Dave; great grandchildren: Stewart and Caroline Poffenberger, Lanie and Daniel Ashriel Poffenberger, Layla Stone, and Austin McPartland; sister: Margaret Miller; sister-in-law: Doris Welsh; brothers-in-law: Lawrence Deal, and Earl Malone; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Frieda Welsh, brother, Stephen Welsh, stepmother, Marjory Welsh, grandson, Joseph Stone, great grandchildren, J.J. and Lily Poffenberger, brother-in-law, Elson Miller, sisters-in-law, Dixie Deal, and Carol Malone, nephews, Larry Don Deal, and Daniel Miller. Pallbearers are Cowboy Szymanski, Daniel Poffenberger, Jacob Welsh, Jerrod Poffenberger, Marcus Poffenberger, and Stewart Poffenberger. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial to the charity of their choice.
