Loyce Ann (Goebel) Clements

May 22, 1933 — January 23, 2020

LOYCE ANN (GOEBEL) CLEMENTS, 86, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020, at her home.

She was born May 22, 1933, in Sealy, Texas, the daughter of Herbert and Mandoline (Meinecke) Goebel. Loyce grew up and attended schools in the Sealy area, graduating as the Sealy High School Valedictorian, Class of 1950. After high school, Loyce moved to Longview, where she lived for 38 years and was united in marriage to Luis Clements on December 30, 1980. In 2001, she moved back to Austin County, calling Bellville home.

Loyce was a people person, she loved spending her time with family and friends, going to her class reunion and coin collecting. She had many children named after her and was a great role model to her children and grandchildren. Loyce also cherished the time she spent participating in the Austin County Fair Home Economics Contest; entering her famous jams, jellies, preserves, relishes and crafts. She was very proud of her winning; especially her 100+ first place ribbons. Loyce always looked forward to preparing her homemade goods and crafts for the Wallis Craft Show that took place in July and November. She enjoyed making her frequent trips through the “beautiful country” to Longview, eating at various places including her two favorite restaurants; Tony’s for their fried eggplant and Huddle House for their steak omelet and bowl of fruit. She would always say, “at Huddle House, they see me come in and before I can get to my table my unsweet tea and sweet potato fries were already there”. Loyce will be missed by many in and around the Bellville and Sealy area.

She is survived by her daughters: Peggy Reuther and Becky Irish, both of New Braunfels; granddaughters: Jennifer Bobo and her husband, Derrick, of New Braunfels, Ruth Harmon and her husband A.J., of Princeton and Faith Stevens of New Braunfels; step-great granddaughters: Trinity Bobo and Faith Bobo, both of Dripping Springs; brother: Vernon Goebel and his wife, Martha, of Sealy; sister: Jacqueline Brandes of Sealy; and numerous nieces, nephews, other dear family and friends.

Loyce was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mandoline Goebel, husband, Luis Clements, son, Walter Raymond Reuther and brother, Joe Goebel.
