Manuel Andres Juarez, 72, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away at his daughter’s home in Pattison on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, after battling with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Manuel was born on January 8, 1952, to Jose Dolores and Guadalupe (Noriega) Juarez in Austin, Texas. After high school, Manuel furthered his education, graduating from Texas A&I University Kingsville. He was a master chef in the army, serving during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany. He was blessed with a son, Geraldo, and daughter, Laura. With his son, he shared an intellectual connection and love for the guitar. With his daughter, he had the bond of living life to the fullest and humanitarian involvements.
Manuel served as a probation officer in Austin, serving Travis County for 20 years. He later continued his career and retired from the Department of Family and Protective Services. Manuel was a jolly individual, a philanthropist, a teacher, a carpenter, a fisherman, and a mechanic. He was the definition of a Renaissance Man.
He is survived by his daughter: Laura Gudelman and husband, Erik, of Pattison; grandchildren: Elyssa Pruner and Haden Gudelman, both of Pattison, and Anthony Flores, Josue Juarez, and Guiliana Juarez, all of University Place, WA; sister: Margret Gomez of Austin; nieces: Maria Gomez, Kris Juarez, and Bobbie Juarez, all of Austin; and many friends to be considered brothers or sisters of San Antonio and Austin.
Manuel is preceded in death by his parents: Jose Dolores and Guadalupe Noriega Juarez; and son: Geraldo Juarez, 39.
Manuel will be cremated and have eternal rest in Austin, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary contributions to the non-profit, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in support of Manuel’s daughter’s mission to support research for blood cancers. Please donate here:
