Mary Margaret Henry, 99, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at her home.
Mary Margaret was born January 25, 1921, in Brookshire, Texas, the daughter of Elza Howe and Aghney (Agopian) Martin. She grew up in the Brookshire area, graduating from Katy High School, Class of 1938. She then attended the University of Texas.
After the start of World War II, Mary Margaret left UT to move to Fort Worth and work for Consolidated Aircraft as an inspector during the production of war planes. Later Mary Margaret was employed as a medical and x-ray technician. She was also an adventurer as she pursued and received her pilots license and flew Piper Cub airplanes. She lived in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and Colorado before returning to Brookshire where she was an active member of the community. She was a member of the Brookshire First United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Brookshire-Pattison Ambulance Corps. She had also served on the Royal FFA Parade Committee. Mary Margaret was very artistic and enjoyed painting, and doing pastel drawings and soap carvings.
She is survived by her daughters: Donnell Sturm of Cuero, and Dayl Cooksey and her husband, Aubert, of Brookshire; son: Darryl Henry and his wife, Kim, of Katy; and grandchildren: Sari Phillips and husband, Ranny, Nathan Cooksey and wife, Paola, Cara Moya and husband, Jonathan, Wesley Cooksey and wife, Edith, Jacob Henry and Aaron Henry. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Kierra Harris, Layne Riley, Alyssa Bernelle, Cage Richards, Garrison Cooksey and Elijah Henry; great great grandchild: Kassidy Harris; sister: Bessie Rhodes of Houston; niece: Linda Turner, also of Houston; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister: Alice Martin; and grandsons: Danny Hundl and Jace Cooksey.
