Mary Kathryn (Popham) Giebel Osborne

MARY KATHRYN (POPHAM) GIEBEL OSBORNE, 86, Bellville, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2023, in Industry, Texas.

She was born June 24, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Robert M. and Reba (McDonald) Popham.  Kathryn grew up and attended schools in the Houston area.  She spent some time with her father in Corpus Christi and her mother’s twin sister, Ruby, in San Antonio. Kathryn was united in marriage to Clarence “Mickey” Giebel in Harris County, Texas, on July 2, 1964, and later made their home in Bellville where they raised their two children: Cindy and Greg.  Mickey preceded Kathryn in death in 1976.  On August 3, 1990, Kathryn was united in marriage to Allan “Ozzie” Osborne, and he preceded her in death in 2002.  She was employed as a secretary for the Texas Department of Human Services, but you might remember seeing her at the Bellville Times Newspaper, Vincik’s Building Supply, or even hearing her as a dispatcher for the Austin County Sheriff’s Department.  Kathryn was a member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crocheting, watching Western movies, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter: Cindy Johnson and her husband, Jerral, and Greg Giebel and his wife, Karen; all of Bellville; her grandchildren: Carissa Gaskamp and her husband, Brent, of Brenham, Jerrad Johnson, and his wife, Taylor, of Sealy, Megan Giebel, Maddie Lizotte, and her husband, Darren, and Gavin Giebel; all of Bellville; her great grandchildren: Jace, Holten, and Tinslyn Johnson, and Kash Haag; and numerous other family and dear friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Mickey” Giebel; husband, Allan “Ozzie” Osborne; and parents: Robert and Reba Popham.

Pallbearers are Jerrad Johnson, Gavin Giebel, Brent Gaskamp, Darren Lizotte, Shane Siptak, and Randell Huffman.
