Maudine Brubaker

July 18, 1926 — April 17, 2025

Brookshire

Maudine Love Brubaker of Pattison, Texas passed from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the age of 98 years. Maudine was born July 18, 1926, in West Sandy, Texas; the daughter of Sam and Edna Love. She was the second child and oldest daughter of nine children during the Great Depression. Maudine often missed school to help her mother care for the smaller children. After graduating from Richmond High School, she worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She was introduced to Clyde Brubaker while he was talking with one of her fellow operators on a party line. Maudine and Clyde were married on June 3, 1947, living in Richmond, TX, followed by several years in Clodine, TX managing a dairy farm. In 1960, they moved their farm and established the Brubaker homestead in Pattison, TX and raised their two children, Cindy and Dan. Maudine and Clyde were happily married for 63 years. After his death in 2010, Maudine continued living on their farm and managing her mobile home park until she was 98. She spent the last few months at Colonial Living in Bellville, TX in the care of her granddaughter Sarah and a loving nursing staff.

Maudine was actively involved in the Pattison United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and for many years served as a Trustee. More recently, she attended the San Felipe Global Methodist Church with her grandson Josh, his wife Jennifer, and their two children, Logan and Lucas.

Maudine strongly encouraged her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to work hard and go far with their education. Maudine loved to learn and she often engaged in new projects, including grafting pecan trees in her orchard, woodworking, and painting. She owned and managed the Blue Barn Fun Farm, educating thousands of Houston area children and families about farm animals and agriculture. She tackled every challenge with determination, fierceness and a warrior spirit. Maudine’s passion for life and incredible work ethic was an inspiration. She loved to write fiction and, after her husband’s death, learned to use a computer and published six novels with her first one at the age of 85.

Maudine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde, and six siblings, Emmett Love, Bobby Love, J.L. Love, Eloise Love, Oleta Thompson, and Shirley Prewett.

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include her children Cynthia Norman of Searcy, AR and Daniel Brubaker and wife Paula of Pattison, TX. Also surviving are her sisters Eulein Walger of Rosenberg, TX and Betty Jean Rosprim of Houston, TX, grandchildren Rebekah Rampey, Michael Norman, Joshua Brubaker, Jacob Brubaker, Sarah Krupala, and Connie Miller, nine great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
