MERITA ARMENDA PARKS, 63, of Simonton, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at her home. Merita was born May 24, 1954, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The daughter of Bobbie Gann, she grew up in Simonton. In 1988, she met the love of her life, Craig Lowell Adkins. They have made their home in Simonton where Merita’s passion was breeding horses. Merita loved her home and property, and cooking. But most of all, Merita treasured the time she was able to spend with her family. Sundays were a time to spend together as family and always included fried chicken, and Merita’s nieces and grandchildren always enjoyed spending their summers with her. She was a special person who would do anything for anyone. She is survived by her husband: Craig Lowell Adkins of Simonton; daughter: Tammy Leske and her husband, Ralf, of Brookshire; son: Mitchell Parks and his wife, Eileen, of Bellville; daughter: Nikki Atkinson and her husband, J.W., of Burton; son: Kai Adkins and spouse of Houston; son: Kris Adkins and spouse of Corpus Christi; granddaughter: Alina Hastings and her husband, Brandon, of Simonton; and nieces: Tabatha Rongey and her husband, Cole, of Brookshire, and Rose Chastain of Houston; 10 grandchildren; mother: Bobbie Gann of Simonton; 3 brothers: Tony, Bug and Paul; and many other dear friends and relatives.
