Ora Nell Meyer

January 15, 1929 — December 12, 2020

ORA NELL (LOESCH) MEYER, born January 15, 1929, in Phillipsburg, Washington County, Texas, daughter of Fritz and Olga Luedke Loesch.  She was baptized February 24, 1929, at St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem by her uncle, Reverend M.C. Hoermann, and later confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church on March 29, 1942, by Reverend H. T. Flachmeier.  Ora Nell was united in marriage to Dennis Meyer on June 25, 1950, at St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville by Reverend A.J. Mohr.

Graduating from Bellville High School in 1946, she worked as a legal stenographer for the local attorneys for many years.  Ora Nell also worked for the Austin County Tax Assessor-Collector in Bellville and did part-time work for San Bernard Electric and Bellville Independent School District for several years.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville, Mary Martha Circle, Bellville VFW Auxiliary, where she held the position of reporter, honorary member of the Coshatte Agriculture Society, Bellville Town, and Country Garden Club, and an associate member of the Bluebonnet Telephone Company Pioneers.  She sang at Colonial Belle Nursing Home with the “Fun Bunch” every Friday for many years and served as coordinator for Senior Citizen trips and game days at St. John Lutheran Church.

In her spare time, she belonged to several cards and domino groups and enjoyed crocheting

She is survived by her children: Duane Meyer and his wife, Shelly, of Spring, and Denise Murski and her husband, Tim, of Chappell Hill; grandchildren: Courtney Gonzales and her husband, Justin, of Spring, Aaron Meyer and his wife, Kara, of Spring, and Katie Murski of College Station; great-grandchildren: Grant Gonzales, Amelia Meyer, William Meyer, and Zelda Meyer; and numerous other family and dear friends.

Ora Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Meyer, parents, Fritz and Olga Loesch, brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Dolores Loesch.

Pallbearers were Murray Nelson, Keith Neuendorff, Tim Murski, Aaron Meyer, Justin Gonzales, and Don Luedke.

Honorary Pallbearers were Douglas Lilie, Gerion Nelson, Kenneth Wayne Nelson, and William Krueger.
