PEGGY LEWIS, of Bellville, Texas passed away on October 5, 2024. Peggy was born on February 5, 1940, to the late Richard and Dorothy Jane Freed of Elkhart, Indiana. Peggy was an amazing artist who loved gardening, cooking, interior design, books, sewing, and antiques. Earlier in life, Peggy spent most of her time as a homemaker and mother, but she also held a variety of artistic jobs and took great pride in being independent and strong-willed. Her most proud accomplishment was lovingly restoring the John Bell Lewis Historic Home in Bellville, Texas, built in 1864. Once restored, the house was a wonderful Bed and Breakfast for several years called Lewis House. The house was filled with wonderful treasures, artwork, and antiques that she collected while traveling the world with her late husband, Jim. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis, her parents and sister, and her two sons, Jeffrey Turnock and Chris Turnock. She is survived by her daughter, Holly Turnock, granddaughter, Anna Turnock, her beloved stepson, Sterling Lewis, and stepson, Justin Lewis, and stepdaughter Margo Carnegie.
