Perlie Heins Klaus

PERLIE HEINS KLAUS, 84, of Round Top, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Brenham, Texas.

She was born June 14, 1939, in Burton, Texas, the daughter of Eton and Lena Justine Oevermann Heins.  Perlie grew up in the Round Top area, graduating from Round Top-Carmine High School.  Perlie was united in marriage to Weldon Klaus, on August 25, 1957, in Carmine, Texas. Together, they raised three daughters – Donna, Kamala, and Jill.  Perlie and Weldon moved to Huntsville in 1957, then to Stafford in 1963, and to Sugar Land in 1965.  While living in Sugar Land, Perlie attended the Benz School of Floral Design at Texas A&M University and opened a flower shop in Fulshear.

In 1993, Perlie and Weldon began calling the quiet country community of Shelby home.  Perlie was an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby, where she volunteered many hours at church and around her community.  In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, baking, gardening, sewing, and collecting dolls and angels.  Perlie loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband Weldon Klaus; daughters:  Kamala Klaus Kitzman and her husband, Robert, and Jill Klaus Kitzman and her husband, Kenny; grandchildren: Joshua Brubaker and his wife, Jennifer, Jacob Brubaker and his wife, Julia, Sarah Krupala and her husband, Chris, Katie Tullis and her husband, Todd, Cason Kitzman and his wife, Melissa, Cody Kitzman and his wife, Sonia, Colton Kitzman and his wife, Tedi, Carter Kitzman, Chris Kitzman, Karalena Kitzman, Andrew Kitzman, Jessica Conforti and her husband, Nick, and Jason Kitzman; great grandchildren: Logan and Lucas Brubaker, Jay and Carter Brubaker, Caden and Conner Krupala, Kaia and Kynli Tullis, Conrad and Cora Kitzman, and Emerson and Elliot Kitzman; and numerous other family and dear friends.

Perlie was preceded in death by her parents: Eton and Lena Heins, and her daughter:  Donna Brubaker.

Pallbearers are Joshua Brubaker, Jacob Brubaker, Cason Kitzman, Cody Kitzman, Colton Kitzman, Carter Kitzman, Chris Kitzman, and Andrew Kitzman. Honorary Pallbearers are Jason Kitzman, Todd Tullis, Nick Conforti, and Chris Krupala.
