Rheman "Rhe" Halbison

Rheman Louis “Rhe” Halbison, 84, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020, in Sealy, Texas.

Rhe was born on October 1, 1935, in Brookshire, Texas, the son of Louie Lomax and Josephine Ida (Dozier) Halbison.  A lifetime resident of Brookshire, he graduated from Pattison High School.  Rhe proudly served in the Texas Army National Guard.  On July 6, 1956, Rhe was united in marriage with Durelle Cleveland in Brookshire.  Rhe and Durelle made their home in Brookshire where they were members of the Brookshire United Methodist Church.  Rhe was the owner of Halbison Plumbing Company.  He raised and maintained cattle and was known as the “Hay Man”. He enjoyed hunting, cattle, and antique cars and hot rods.  Durelle preceded Rhe in death on February 7, 2013.

He is survived by his daughter:  Kaye Gilliam and husband, Bill, of Pattison; son:  Glen Halbison and wife, Evangeline, of Pasadena; daughters:  Greicy Barroso and Gladis Khodr and husband, Hassan, all of Brazil; grandchildren:  Durelle Cardiff and husband, C.J., Garrett Gilliam and wife, Jessica, and Glen Halbison, Jr.; great grandchildren:  Natalee Cardiff, Taylor Cardiff, Cade Cardiff, Kaelynn Halbison, and Hannah Gilliam; and sisters:  Marjorie Dornak and Dianne Rhoads; numerous other relatives and many dear friends.

Rhe was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Josephine Halbison, his wife, Durelle, and brother, Arthur Young.
