Rhonda Faye Gollmer Ewbank

February 14, 1955 — August 12, 2023

Rhonda Gollmer Ewbank passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023, with her loving husband holding her hand.

Rhonda was a Valentine’s Day baby, born on February 14, 1955, and was raised in Bellville, Texas.  She loved growing up in the small community and enjoyed the freedom it provided.  One of her joys was being a twirler in the Bellville High School band winning first place in State at UIL.  She graduated as an honor student from Bellville High School and continued her education at Sam Houston State University.  Rhonda graduated Summa Cum Laude from SHSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.  Rhonda went to work in the Conroe School District teaching Middle School English for four years and worked nights to get her Master of Education from SHSU.  She then became a high school counselor at Klein Forest for four years, becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Rhonda decided to leave education to follow her dream of becoming a lawyer.  She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.  She was a member of the Order of the Barons in 1987 and a member of the Order of the Coif in 1988.  Rhonda was licensed as an Attorney and Counselor at Law in 1988.

Rhonda started her career as a lawyer with the firm of Andrews and Kurth in litigation.  After 5 years she moved in-house to the oil and gas industry, retiring from Weatherford International after 13 more years.

Rhonda married Dennis Ewbank on June 23, 1990, in Houston at All Saints Catholic Church.  They resided in Houston for their entire married life, spending the last 24 years in West University Place.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Smith Gollmer, her father, George Robert Gollmer, her brother, George Robert Gollmer, Junior, and Robert's wife Diana Burns Gollmer. She is survived by her husband Dennis Ewbank, her nephew, Sean Gollmer, her niece, Heather Gollmer Maresh, and Heather’s husband Michael Maresh.  Rhonda is also survived by her 91-year-old Aunt Marion Gollmer, her cousin Fredrick Gollmer, and several dear cousins on her mother’s side of the family.  Through marriage with Dennis, she is survived by a loving family of 11 brothers- and sisters-in-law, 20 nephews and nieces, 18 grandnephews and grandnieces, and 1 great-grandniece.

Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the charity of their choice.
