Rita Irene Peterson Lambert, 78, was born May 22, 1942, in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Catherine Owens Peterson and Robert G. Peterson of Homewood, Ill., and passed July 7, 2020.
Rita graduated from Homewood/Flossmoor High School in 1960. She married David M. "Dave" Lambert on June 15, 1968, and they moved to Texas two years later. While raising their three children, she completed her A.A.S. degree from North Harris County Community College in 1983.
After Rita and Dave retired to Coushatta RV Ranch in Bellville, Texas, they enjoyed making new friends and traveling. Rita also began volunteering at the New 2 U Resale Shop run by the nonprofit Bellville Hospital Foundation Auxiliary, which supports the hospital's mission through equipment purchased from the shop's proceeds.
Rita loved spending time with family and friends, reading mystery novels, watching mystery and comedy TV shows and movies, playing cards, traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad, chocolate and other sweets, and spoiling her grandchildren.
A loving mother and wife, her laughter and concern for the health and happiness of her loved ones and friends will be missed by all who knew her.
