Roberta Karsteter

Roberta (Bobbi) Marie (Hicks) Karsteter, 74, passed away on May 28, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Katy, TX.  She leaves behind daughter, Dallas Desiree Mathews (Benny Jones), two sons, Mitchell Beaumont Mathews and Houston Etienne Mathews (Leslie Espinoza), three sisters, Donna Landrum (Thaddeus Landrum), Jennifer Vader, and Dee Dee King, and four brothers, Michael Marschand (Rita Marschand), David Marschand, Wesley Sutherland, and Jon Sutherland.

She was preceded in death by her parents J.H. Hicks and Betty Katherine Marschand, four siblings, Howard Hicks, Jay Hicks, Joseph Sutherland and Pamela Sutherland and husband, Theo A. Karsteter.

Roberta was born May 27, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, grew up in the Cottage Grove area of Houston and graduated from John H. Reagan High School.

She began working for the United States Postal Service in 1981 in Gilmer, TX.  After several moves and transfers, she was hired on at the Bellville, TX Post Office and after a combined 28 years, retired from service.  She loved her job and the freedom of driving through the countryside delivering mail to her rural customers, and they loved her.

She was a voracious reader, loved pets, mostly dogs (currently, Hog and Karma), growing any kind of plant you could think of – house plants, outside plants, trees, shrubs, and tomatoes, but most of all, she loved her children.
