ROENA DARDIS KING, 76, of Sealy, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2021, at her home.
She was born December 3, 1944, in Vernon, Texas, the daughter of Donald John and Ola Imanell (Davis) Dardis. Roena grew up and attended schools in the West Texas area, graduating from Midland Lee High School. Living in Midland, Roena was raised among the pumpjacks of oilfields and the western influence of friends on ranches. She married Don King in 1965 and they were blessed with two children, Sabrina Di Ann, and Dave Michael. Falling back to her love for graphite design from high school, in the later 60’s she found that her new love was painting. Roena taught private lessons in oil, watercolor, graphite, and Prisma Color Pencil. Starting in 2018, she taught at Studio Blend Gallery and Coffee Shop in Sealy. Roena was previously a staff support artist for Michael James Smith online school of realism in England, where she critiqued students and showed support to many students. Roena was a Girl Scout Leader and in her spare time, she enjoyed camping, hiking, and RV traveling.
She is survived by her husband: Donald King of Sealy; daughter: Sabrina Di Ann King Straussfeld and her husband, Dirk, of Sealy; son: Dave King and his wife, Kelly, of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Kristina Young, Sydney King, Fletcher King, Lara Straussfeld; great grandchild: Emmett Young; brother: Dana Dardis and his wife, Sandra; sister-in-law: Gwen Dardis; and numerous other family and dear friends and art lovers.
Roena was preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Ola Dardis, and brother: David Dardis.
