Roy Acebo

ROY ACEBO, 81, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at his home.

He was born April 16, 1943, in Bellville, Texas, the son of Charlie, Sr. and Soledad Velasquez Acebo.  Roy grew up and attended schools in the Austin County area, graduating from Bellville High School in 1961.  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country aboard the USS Enterprise until he was honorably discharged in 1964.  Roy was employed with Dresser Industries for many years before he decided to make a change.  He moved to Cat Spring in 1985 and in 1989, he went to work for Boriack Motors, then onto Tegeler Chevrolet until he retired.

Roy was united in marriage to Linda Ueckert, on November 5, 2004, in Brenham, Texas. They made their home in the Burleigh area in 2005.  He enjoyed sitting outside in his lawn chair visiting with friends and family, going to family BBQs, hanging out with his buddies hunting and fishing, and watching his westerns.

He loved being “Sugar” to his wife, Linda, and Susie, Katie and Chandler.  Roy was a devoted father to his children and a loving Popo to his grandchildren.

Roy is survived by his loving wife: Linda Acebo of Bellville; daughters: Christine Sanchez and her husband, Nathaniel, and Kimberley Schroeder and her husband, Matthew, all of Sealy; stepchildren: Susan (Susie) Curlee and her husband, Bob, of Tennessee, and Robert (Bobby) Fick and his wife, Kim, of Bellville; grandchildren: Ryan Moseley and his wife, Kayleen, Aidan Roberts, Gunnar Sanchez, Layla Sanchez, Easton Sanchez, Cade Schroeder, Katie Curlee, Chandler Curlee; great-grandchildren: Trace Moseley, and Jake Moseley; brothers: Robert Acebo, and Richard Acebo and his wife, Peggy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Peggy Ueckert; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie, Sr. and Soledad Acebo; daughter: Tracey Roberts; brother: Charlie Acebo, Jr.; sister-in-law: Vicki Acebo; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Jeanette Ueckert.
