Ruth Geick Engeling

Ruth Geick Engeling, 93, of Brenham, TX, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Ruth was born on January 21, 1930, to John & Ida (Weide) Geick in the Wiedeville Community near Brenham, Texas. She was a graduate of Brenham High School in the class of 1948. From there she continued her education at Blinn Jr. College, University of Texas, and the University of Houston. After high school, she married Paul Milton Engeling on September 4, 1949, and had two children, Paula & John.

Ruth was active in her church and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville where she previously served as an Altar Guild, a greeter, and was a part of the Care and Share Bible Study Group. Ruth co-owned with her husband, Paul’s Pharmacy, for many years as well as owned & operated the Sears Catalog Store, both located in Bellville. She enjoyed oil painting and was a very talented artist. She has placed in several different art contests and was also a former member of the Brenham Fine Arts League. In her later years of life, Ruth lived at Kruse Village in Brenham and enjoyed helping with flowers for the church services on Sundays.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Geick; husband, Paul Engeling; and daughter, Paula Engeling Wooley.

She is survived by her son, John Engeling; grandchildren, Erin Hacker and husband, David, J.W. Nastoupil and wife Kristin, Brooke Miller and husband, Jesse, Karina Bodewig and husband Luke, Krista Engeling, Justin Wooley and wife Yaneldis, and Jeffrey Wooley and wife Chelsea; 11 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Wayne Wooley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Nastoupil, Justin Wooley, Jeffrey Wooley, Luke Bodewig, David Hacker & Jesse Miller.
