Sandra Lee (Veator) Sears, 74, passed away at her home in Brookshire, Texas, on Friday, December 23, 2022.
Sandra was born June 17, 1948 in Syracuse, New York to the late Donald and Janet (Roberts) Veator. She grew up in Manlius, New York, graduating from Fayetteville-Manlius High School. Sandra continued her education at Onondaga Community College, earning an AAS in Computer Technology and broadening her computer programming skills through coursework at the University of Houston. In 1978, she and her two daughters relocated to Texas, living in Houston and Angleton before Sandra made her home in Brookshire. She worked as a computer programmer for many years in the Houston area, mostly in the oil and gas industry, although her last position was working for a non-profit organization that assists persons with disabilities. She found this work most fulfilling, as she was always willing to help others. She treasured every moment she spent with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. Sandra enjoyed the outdoors and cherished every opportunity to fish in the St. Lawrence River, where her family owns property on Mink Island. Sandra sang as well as played keyboard and bass guitar in a classic rock band, The Remnants of Polaris. She had a deep love of music, building a music studio onto her home so that she and her bandmates had a place to practice and create new music.
She is survived by her daughters: Donna Sawyer of West Columbia, TX and Judy Morgan (Fred) of Eaton, New York; granddaughters: Vanessa Morgan and Alysa Meza (Michael); grandsons: Trae Turner and Cody Morgan; great-grandchildren: Tucker Bailey, Nai’a Meza and Neni Meza; sisters: Judith Farquharson and Nancy Martin; brothers: Gary, Don, Mark, David, Tim and Dennis Veator; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert Young, as well as her parents, Donald and Janet Veator, and sisters Laurie Linares and Mary Veator.
A private celebration of life is planned for family and friends in Texas, with interment of ashes and a memorial service in New York in the spring of 2023.
