Shirley Ann (Schroeder) Callahan

Shirley Ann (Schroeder) Callahan, 83, of Sealy, Texas passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022, in Bellville, Texas. Shirley was born in Sealy, Austin County, Texas. The daughter of Ernest and Birdie (Schubert) Schroeder, she grew up in the Peters Community where she attended elementary school, and graduated from Sealy High School. She married William Donal Stone on January 24, 1959, in Sealy, Texas, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1993. On June 29, 1997, Shirley married Patrick Henry Callahan in Sealy, Texas where they have made their home. During her working years, Shirley was employed as a nurse. She was active in her community serving at the Sealy Food Pantry, teaching through World Bible School and mentoring students at Sealy Elementary. Shirley and her daughters enjoyed hosting hay rides for friends and family at their place in Sealy for a number of years. She also enjoyed visiting the nursing home residents bringing much joy with each of her visits. She was a member of the Bellville Church of Christ where she was a Bible Class Teacher. Her hobbies included sewing, camping, gardening and caring for her pecan orchard. Shirley is survived by her husband of almost 25 years: Patrick Henry Callahan of Sealy, Texas; daughters: Sheryl Kay Orange and her husband, Boyce, of Houston, Texas, Wanda Gail Owen and her husband, Steve, of Marshall, Texas, Donna Christine Stone of League City, Texas, and Patricia Anne Hyde and her husband, Richard, of Montgomery, Texas; 7 grandchildren: Robert Orange, Ashley Orange, Cory Owen, Brandy Jackson, Amy Raley, Meredith Caldwell and Madison Hyde; 8 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected; sister: Dorothy Mayfield; brother: James Schroeder; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Birdie Schroeder; her brother: Robert Schroeder; and her first husband: William Donal Stone.
