Stella “Joan” (Bryant) Rooth, 84, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was born March 15, 1933, in Rusk, Texas, the daughter of William Glen, Jr. and Zena Mae (Dean) Floyd, but was known most of her life as Joan Bryant after her mother remarried. Joan grew up and attended schools in the Houston area, graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School. After high school, she graduated from Southwestern Business University in Houston and went to work for The Travelers Insurance Company. Joan enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, fishing, camping and taking extraordinary great care of her family! She also was a classically trained piano player and ballet instructor. She later played for her church in Hemphill, Texas for years. She loved the Lord and was very active in the Methodist Church there. Joan is survived by her son: Bill Rooth and his wife, Elizabeth, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Heather Files, Jennifer Rooth, Chris DiStefano, Darah Rooth, Carah Rooth and Robert Rooth; great grandchildren: Mason Files and Clayton Files; daughter-in-law: Mary DiStefano Rooth; and numerous other dear family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents George and Zena Mae Bryant, daughter Melody, two sons, Don Rooth and Ron Rooth and sister, Yvonne Williams.
