Thelma Helen (Schaare) Orange

THELMA HELEN (SCHAARE) ORANGE, 91, of Brenham, Texas, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015, in Brenham with her family by her side. She was born November 21, 1924, in Kenney, Texas, the daughter of Theodore and Ella (Pfeffer) Schaare. Thelma grew up and attended grade school at Travis School in Kenney. In her later years, she moved to Sealy and then to Hempstead. Thelma eventually moved to Houston in 1942, where she was employed with Hughes Tools as a welder on war ships until 1945. She was united in marriage to James E. Orange, Sr., on September 28, 1945, in Madisonville. Thelma and James made their home in Madisonville before moving back to Hempstead in 1947. She and James moved to Brookshire in 1952, then to Bellville in 1958. Thelma was an active member of the Christian Faith Church and enjoyed hand embroidering, gardening, reading, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed watching sports. Her proudest moments were when she attended band events to see her children and grandchildren perform. Thelma is survived by her children: Janice Cass and her husband, David, James Orange, Jr. and his wife, Judy, Ellen Remmert and her husband, Larry, all of Bellville, Kathy Martinez and her husband, Rudy, of Oklahoma City, OK, John Orange and his wife, Stacey, of Lubbock, and William Orange and his wife, Dana, of Brentwood, TN. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and sister: Bernice Chaddick of Hempstead. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, James Orange, Sr., parents, Theodore and Ella Schaare, sisters, Florine Schaare, Doris Hermsdorfer and May Delle Jozwiak, brothers, Leo and Elmo Schaare. Pallbearers were Daniel Cass, Stephen Frank, Lynn Frank, Ryan Martinez, Heath Mahlmann and Larry Majewski. Honorary Pallbearers were David, Dan and Doug Shaare, Scott Orange, Kevin Martinez and Troy Scheh.
