Words by Robert King:
On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, one of my nephews unexpectedly passed away.
He was a hardworking man of unquestionable faith in the Lord. He was a simple, hardworking country boy with a heart of gold who loved his family and friends. He had some rough patches in life, of that there is no doubt. Things never seemed to go his way at times. Through GOD, he finally found a way to work through the tribulations sent his way. Using that power for more than himself, he was able to look beyond the faults of others and see the best GOD had BLESSED them with, and he helped them to see it as well.
At 6:33/6:34, on Friday morning, February 5th, I was awakened by the whining bark of one of my dogs. This was the whining bark she does when meeting someone for the first time. As I lay semi awake, my thoughts immediately went to my nephew and questions I had about his unexpected departure to be with GOD. As I lay there with those questions swirling in my brain about Travis Lennox, the light on my desk illuminated on its own, scaring my other dogs awake. There was no power surge. The light is battery operated and remote controlled. The control is mounted under my desk, away from accidental activation. The numbers on the digital clock switching from 6:33 to 6:34 inspired me to do something I have not done since the loss of my parents over a decade ago. I opened the Bible. The bible I picked up belonged to my grandma. I randomly opened it to the book of Matthew, and what I discovered that my grandmother had marked, AMAZED me. I have been at a loss for words about this tragic loss until today, and now I have some thoughts to share. First, the Bible verses, then my own thoughts.
Matthew 6:33: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:34: "Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
My thoughts: A heart of gold, produced its last beat, and hard-working hands have been laid to rest. From his mission here, GOD called home his Christian warrior for his reward. His smile, his laugh, the twinkle in his eye, gone forever from our days. A lone photo takes the place where he once stood. Like a stone thrown into the water, his life made ripples that touched us all. He would not want us to be sad about his journey home. He is celebrating a reunion, with those we know, that have gone on before. So, hold his memories close, and think of them with love. Although our time on earth is short, it is only the start. The day will come when there are no longer feelings of pain. On that day, heaven will call, and he will be there to meet us along with God's loving embrace.
