Virginia Lee Lyerly was born on December 19, 1941, to Lloyd H. & Minnie Williams Lyerly of Houston, Texas. She was raised and educated in Houston where she graduated from St Pius High School. During her career, Virginia held three positions as an executive assistant in as many companies, the latter being Weems Geophysical. During her life in Houston, Texas, Virginia devoted her time and God-given talents to the Spanish outreach at Irvington Pentecostal Church wherein she played the organ and performed vocals and ministered to everyone she'd meet; more than that, it was not an uncommon sight to see her devoting time and effort to help those in need. She had a calling to be there for the children of broken homes and the homeless. When she moved to Brookshire, Texas in the early 1980's, her calling to rescue animals of all sorts began, and this also she did with her whole heart. She became an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She began a career beyond retirement as an insurance agent. Although her address had changed, her career and her interests Virginia still made every effort to maintain a relationship with the families she'd helped through the years. On July 14, 2017, at the age of 75, Virginia passed from this life leaving behind a legacy of love to those who knew her. Virginia is survived by her nieces: Leilani Weber of Cypress, Stephanie Whitaker of Pearland; nephews: Bryon Lyerly of Spring, Randy Lyerly of The Woodlands, Shannon Lyerly of Houston; cousin: Dusty Snelling of Willis; extended family: Leonor G. Keng of Liberty, Marcos Guerrero of Houston, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Minnie Lyerly; brothers: David Lyerly and John Lyerly.
