Wanda Kay (Peschel) Wiktorik

August 4, 1956 — August 6, 2018

WANDA KAY PESCHEL WIKTORIK, 62, of Industry, Texas, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 in Bellville.

She was born August 4, 1956, to Wilfred and Mary Kathryn “Kay” (Sothern) Peschel. Growing up in Industry, Wanda attended West End followed by Bellville High School. On December 16, 1972 Wanda married the love of life, Terry O. Wiktorik. Soon after, they started their family having two children, Wendy and Terry Clay. During this time she furthered her career by receiving her LVN and then her RN degrees.

Wanda was a nurse working at all the local area hospitals, as well as the Brenham State Supported Living Center. She was fluent in many nursing areas, but her passion was with trauma and emergency medical care. She was a Trauma Nurse Educator and was the best friend a patient could have. Wanda was active in Trauma Nurse Education, teaching Trauma Nursing Core courses and Emergency Disaster Relief. She was a mentor to many nurses over her 25+ years in her nursing career. She was the Trauma Coordinator and led the trauma and stroke programs at Trinity Hospital which allowed the Hospital to reach successful trauma and stroke designations many times. She had one of the best programs in the state. Wanda created the Disaster Response System for Trinity, while training and drilling the staff. She spent many days networking with trauma nurses and supporting legislative initiatives in Austin. She was a leader across Texas as an active participant in the Texas Trauma Coordinators Forum (TTCF) where she served as the role of President, Director at Large, and Committee Chair. Wanda helped create the first Trauma Program Managers Manual. She proudly received the Lifetime Achievement Award from TTCF for her many years of hard work and dedication to trauma patients. Wanda participated in Trauma Day at the Capital every legislative session asking legislators to continue funding for trauma programs. She served on the board of the Brazos Valley Regional Advisory Council (RAC) for many years as Secretary and Committee Chair. She led Injury Prevention Programs, participated in Health Fairs, and was a Child Safety Seat Technician. After a fulfilling nursing career in trauma, she decided to slow down her pace and returned to the Brenham State Supported Living Center as a Quality Assurance (QA) Nurse.

In her spare time, Wanda also ran a very successful makeup business with Younique, named Diva Lashes. Through this endeavor she met many friends while teaching them various makeup tricks. She thought every woman deserved to feel beautiful. She was also very fashion savvy, owning and operating a boutique in Bellville called Diva Girls. Wanda loved working alongside her husband Terry, as they combined her love of fashion with his love of leather work. They attended the Warrenton Antiques Festival twice yearly to sell their goods. Wanda loved interacting with the customers and fellow vendors.

Wanda and Terry made their home in Industry, Texas, where they nurtured their passion for horses. They both rode for the Austin County Sherriff’s Mounted Posse and later Wanda joined the prestigious Bellville Heritage Cowgirls Drill Team. They also enjoyed trail rides, starting out with the West End Outlaws, which was started by her father Wilfred. They continued riding with other riding groups including the Silver Spurs, Long Neck Riders, and Chappell Hill Cowpokes. The highlight of every year was the Salt Grass Trail Ride.

Another favorite pastime of Wanda’s was fishing. She loved it so much that she and Terry purchased a home in Sargent, where they spent time together fishing with family and friends. She loved the “Crab Tree” and the time spent there with family.

Above all else, Wanda’s greatest joy was being called “Mimi”. She loved her grandchildren dearly and thoroughly enjoyed her time with them. Whether hanging out at home or going all over the country following their many activities, she enjoyed the quality time spent with each one of them.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband: Terry O.
