Wendy Kay Derner, 65, of Katy, Texas, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 11, 2022.
Wendy was born July 14, 1956, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, to Tony and Anita (Lake) Fritzel. She had the opportunity growing up to see the world, due to her family’s military deployments. Wendy made her career as an accountant for the State of California. On June 16, 2005, Wendy was united in marriage with Jim Derner in Nevada. Wendy had a passion for scuba diving and was also known to be an animal activist. In her free time, Wendy enjoyed tending to her garden, dancing, had a passion for her family, and was a Miami Dolphin fan.
She is survived by her husband: James Derner of Sacramento, CA; daughter: Pamala Smith of Katy, TX; and sisters: Rhonda Nelson of Apache Junction, AZ, Robin Nagel of Mesa, AZ, and Pauline Drescher of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Kendra Cooper of San Marcos, TX, Dalton Smith of Katy, TX, and Logan Smith of Katy, TX; great-grandchildren: Jaxton Smith, Arabella Smith, and Elowen Cooper.
