WILFORD WILLIAM PFEFFER, 83, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Houston Methodist West Hospital in Katy. Wilford was born June 9, 1934, to Wesley and Eline (Brast) Pfeffer in Bellville, Texas. He was baptized in the St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville on March 16, 1946, by Pastor A.W. Weber, and confirmed April 10, 1949, by Pastor A.J. Mohr. He attended Bradberry, Piney, and Cochran Elementary Schools as well as Bellville High School. Wilford was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville, a member of the Austin County Livestock Association, and Woodmen of the World. On November 26, 1954, he married his sweetheart, Gloria Brandt. They were blessed with two daughters, Patricia Lynn and Belinda Sue. They made their home in Bellville for 26 years before building a home in the Buckhorn Community. Wilford worked for Gilmore Huebner, Charpiot & Dunn, and Tom Johnson before opening his own welding business, Mobil Welding Service. As owner of his own business, he was fortunate to have obtained the contract with Bud Adams, former Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans owner, to design and construct numerous pens, etc., at Mr. Adams’ ranch in Waller County. In addition, his shop was open to anyone that needed his services. After 20 years in the welding business, he retired and began farming and ranching. Wilford’s family is extremely proud of his many accomplishments, especially his invention and patent of a hydraulic fence post puller. He worked many hours designing and building this useful piece of farm equipment. In his younger years, Wilford enjoyed riding horses and roping calves at local rodeos. His many hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards, dominoes, and playing slot machines. One of his favorite sayings was, “All it takes is one pull!” Family was very important to Wilford. He loved spending time with Gloria, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking stews, barbecuing, and frying chicken for large family gatherings. Wilford was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law: Arno and Lillie Brandt, his brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Carole Pfeffer, son-in-law, Dale Sommerlatte, and sister-in-law, Linda Brandt. Wilford is survived by his wife: Gloria Pfeffer; daughters: Patricia Sommerlatte and Belinda Jackson and her husband, Stanley; grandchildren: Kelley Lowes and her husband, Donnie, Lindsey Pasqua, Brittney Johnson and Briana Larson and her husband, Lance; great grandchildren: Heath Lowes, Ella Pasqua, Grey Johnson and Alexis Larson; step grandchildren: Shawn Jackson and his wife, Wendy and Brent Jackson; step great grandchildren: Taylor, Christina, Grace, Tylin and Sloan Jackson and Peyton and Jake Price. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jewel Fontenot and brother-in-law, Glenn Brandt and his wife, Jeannie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are: Donnie Lowes, Lance Larson, Stanley Jackson, Glenn Brandt, Justin “Bo” Brandt and Coy Fontenot.
