William "Bill" B. Lyth, Jr.

WILLIAM B. “Bill” LYTH, JR., 80, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, at his home.

He was born January 4, 1942, in Tyler, Texas, the son of William B., Sr. and Ernestine (Porter) Lyth.  Bill grew up and attended Bellville schools, graduating from Bellville High School.  After graduation he attended Blinn Jr. College where he met Donna Janssen.  Bill then transferred to the University of Texas in Austin.  He was united in marriage to Donna Janssen on December 22, 1962, in LaGrange, Texas. They lived in Austin and Groveton before moving back to his childhood roots and calling Bellville home.  He was a supervisor for the Department of Human Resources.  Bill was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville, where he was an adult Sunday school teacher and a Bethel Bible study teacher.  He also served as an usher and was on the Altar Guild.  Bill was on the board of the Community Opportunity Center for Special Needs and Church Council for several terms.  In his spare time, he enjoyed trips to Matagorda to go saltwater fishing.

Bill is survived by his wife: Donna Lyth of Bellville; children: John Lyth and his wife, Zena, of Brenham, Julie Lyth-Drane and her husband, Cliff, of Seattle, Washington, and Jane Lyth of Katy; grandchildren: Alée Lyth and Olivia Lyth, both of Bryan, Abby Brewer and her husband, Matt, of Austin, Ava Drane of Seattle, Washington, Joshua Ottmer and his wife, Hannah, of Cypress, Grace Ottmer of Katy, and Jacob Ottmer of Cincinnati, Ohio;  four great-grandchildren; sister: Kay Marek and her husband, Douglas, of Bellville; sister-in-law: Jane Janssen Skvarca of Palmdale, California; niece: Melissa Mueller and her husband, Ryan; nephew: Stephen Marek; and numerous cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Tina Lyth; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Big Jawn and Glennie Janssen; and brother-in-law: Ed Skvarca.
