William Lee Burkham

September 26, 1934 — June 24, 2019

William Lee Burkham, 84, of Houston, Texas, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, in Brookshire, Texas.


William was born September 26, 1934, in Troup, Texas to parents W.L. and Mina Pearl (Warner) Burkham.  He grew up in Troup and attended Austin High School.


William served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War attaining the rank of corporal.


He married Nicy Lunette Hicks on January 31, 1965, in Houston, Texas.  They have made their home in Houston where William was employed as an electronic technician manager for Houston ISD, retiring in 2001, after more than 25 years of service.  He enjoyed picking the guitar, golfing, fishing and playing dominoes.


William is survived by his wife of 54 years:  Lunette; daughters:  Deann Caldwell and Carla Groff; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers:  Albert Burkham and wife, Teresa, and Warner Burkham and wife, Marynell.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Mina and Wilford Burkham; sons:  Shawn and Ian Burkham; and granddaughter:  Amber Burkham.


William will be laid to rest in the Houston National Cemetery. Date to be advised.
