WILLIAM GEORGE “Bill” FARRELL, 81, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021.
He was born February 5, 1940, in Rochester, New York, the son of James F. and Tess (Dennis) Farrell. Bill grew up on a dairy farm and attended schools in the Hemlock area, graduating from Lima High School. With a heart of a soldier, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with respect, dignity, and love. Bill retired after 28 years of service to this great nation on February 5

, 2000. On March 28, 1987, Bill married Nettie Guthrie and the love he had for her was beyond words.
Continuing his passion for serving others; Bill was the Austin County Veterans Service Officer for the last fifteen years; he was well respected by so many and loved by the entire community and surrounding areas. In his spare time, Bill and Nettie would be at arts and crafts shows showing off their talents, Nettie with her beadwork, and Bill with his woodwork. He was known for his extreme talent for wood crafting; he handmade anything from large eagles, wind chimes, birdhouses, plaques, and flag holders that would display all the armed forces flags to small birds, paper towel holders, and cell phone holders, just to name a few.
Bill was an active member of the Austin County American Legion Post 115. He also headed up the Boy Scout troop in distributing flags at the graves of our veterans.
Bill is survived by his loving wife: Nettie Farrell of Bellville; daughters: Robin and Jennifer; son-in-law: William Day and his wife, Sheryl, of Chappell Hill; grandchildren: Victoria, Antonio, Devon, Michelle, Michael, Autumn, and Louis; great-grandchildren: Tania, Romeo and Aislinn; sister: Barbara Jones; and nephew: Dan Jones of New York State; and many other relatives, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Tess Farrell.
From his stories to his laugh, he showed his love in many ways. We are all so blessed to have known a great man like Bill. He will truly be missed by each of us.
Pallbearers were Raymond Chislett, Walter Morrow, Al Cordeiro, Brandon Hoff, Eric St. Germain, Justin Havemann, Colten Havemann, and Lori Gaines.
Honorary pallbearers were American Legion Post 115, Austin County EMS, and Austin County Employees.
